Yep! I am snatching up two more titles to place under my belt. Call me an Elficologist and a Fairyologist. Because I am going to give you, the reader a fast history lesson on elves and fairies. Have I ever hunted fairies and elves? Well sort of. When I went to Ireland, I was looking for the elusive leprechaun. Of course I never found a leprechaun, but I did travel down fairy path at Dublin Castle. Then the most recent Mount Shasta excursion, in which a dozen paranormal investigators went looking for ghosts, UFOs, Bigfoot, the Last of the Lemurians and fairies. Dwarfs and fairies have been seen going in and out of the caverns near Mount Shasta (Read more about the Mount Shasta investigation). But, I believe these dwarfs and fairies have their origins to the infamous 'grays' of UFO lore.

There is a lot that connects fairies to UFO lore, let's look over some of the examples:

• Fairy Circles could be interpreted in modern times as crop circles or UFO landing spots.
• Fairies are known to be mischievous at times. They have abducted humans. Grays are known to abduct humans.
• Fairies have been known to fly in lighted globes. Aliens man UFOs.
• Fairies are known to snatch human babies. Aliens experiment with human DNA and are responsible for false pregnancies. Aliens are known to create hybrids, half human and half alien species to populate their dying race.
• Fairies cause temporary paralysis. Aliens also cause temporary paralysis. Fairies cause time loss and the forgetting of the abduction experience. Abductees of the 'grays' make claim to the same thing.
• Fairies return their abductees to the point of origin. Aliens do the same thing. Some people say that fairies at times look reptilian. Some aliens are known to look reptilian.

Hmmm, is that a coincidence? To be truthful, I believe there is a connection between UFOs and fairies. I also believe that UFOs are connected to our Norse - Roman/Greek - Egyptian - Mayan - Aztec myths, but that's a whole other story. Let's briefly talk about elves.

Elves and fairies on certain levels can be somewhat similar. My theory is that elves are a branch from the fairy bloodline. Elves originated with Germanic mythology. In fact if you travel to Europe, there are many people that still believe in elves. Elves were known as minor nature and fertility gods. They were looked upon as youthful and having great beauty. They are somewhat small in stature and have pointy ears. They are known to reside in underground places, caves, wells and springs. Some elves embrace the forest. In Germany's Black Forest it is rumored that a race of elves live in this mystical forest. Other reports from the Black Forest is about a man that was covered in fire, that actually flew from the forest trees to a church steeple. When the townsfolk tried to stone him, he flew away never to be seen again. Some people have called this man on fire, the Fire Elf. It is thought that elves are immortal and have magical powers.

Since I believe Elves and Fairies are actually in the same family, we will look at the variety of fairies and elves, placed together conveniently for you the reader.

• Altheia - She is the fairy of revelation. She is protector of criminals that harbor in deception and fraud.
• Asrais - Are known to be small delicate female fairies. When these fairies are captured and exposed to sunlight, they will melt away into a pool of water.
• Banshee - When someone close in the family is dying, a Banshee, (female spirit) will make a wailing sound. This wailing sound is the signal that death is approaching.
• Blue Ladies, Ice Virgins & Mountain Fairies: All are in the same family. They are the size of a wasp, in fact humans mistake them for wasps. They do not like humans touching their hair and will lead humans astray into the Valley of Forbidden Shadows.
• Blue Trolls - These are worker trolls, used by high command elves for slave labor. Note: Small blue creatures have been seen by abductees that are used for workers for the 'Grays'.
• Boggarts - A breed of half elf and half fairy. These creatures were the same ones that gave a sleeping liquor beverage to Rip Van Winkle (written by Washington Irving), which caused him to sleep for 20 years.
• Bogles - Villainous goblins that will do harm to liars and murderers.
• Brownies - They love humans and their households. They are known to be benevolent and harmless. If anything, they are helpful.
• Bully Bogey - Inspires brutality and oppressive actions. Known to have a fetid breath.
• Dwarfs - They are short, stocky and strong. They mature at the age of 3 and at the age of 7, they are old, bearded and gray haired. If they are struck by sunlight, they will turn to stone. They practice magical spells and potions that at times make them immune to daylight.
• Dryads - Spirits that live in the trees. They prefer oak trees. Druids utilize Dryads for inspiration.
• Elves - There appearance makes them look like a normal man or woman. Small in stature and have pointy ears. They are divided by the Seelie and Unseelie Courts.
• Elvenkind of Shangri-La - A Tibetan mystical land that are guarded by the invisible Elvenkind of Shangri-La. These elves carry swords, spears and shields and will defend Shangri-La.
• Elven Warriors of the First Blood - They seek conquest of lands belonging to other little people. Their weapons are the bow and arrow, spears, swords, shields. They are able to go from our world into another dimension through a dimensional rift. When people see them on their horses, it looks like they are vanishing, when in reality they are entering another dimensional world. They are known to wear long flowing capes and frightening masks.
• Filendieres & Spinners of the Night - They are average human size. They are known to punish the lazy. They will encourage people that work hard and give them strength. They appear as ghosts. They are seen as ladies of long white dresses, extremely beautiful, pale with blonde hair.
• Fir Darrig - (Pronounced Fear deang) They play horrific jokes that may cause a human to have a stroke or a heart attack. They can assume any visage they wish.
• Flower Myrths - Harmless fairies that live off the pollen of flowers. They are mistaken for humming birds, until people take a closer look and see a human like creature with beating wings.
• Gnomes - Earth Elementals - They live underground and guard the treasures and history of the Earth. Gnomes are wonderful metal workers, especially of swords and breastplates.
• Goblins - Goblins are an uglier species of fairy. They are small and malicious, and usually band together as they have lost their abilities to operate independently. Usually they are controlled by a Mage for evil doings.
• Gobbly Gooks - Small shadowy creatures that usually hide in human's closets and underneath their beds. They are known to enter your dreams and nightmares and will pull pranks on humans.
• Gremlins - Tormented WWII pilots by messing with the mechanisms of their warplanes, causing some warplanes to crash.
• Gwragedd Annwn - (Pronounced: Gwageth anoon) Are traditionally Welsh water fairies, who occasionally take human men for husbands.
• Gwyllion - A Scottish water fairy. They are mostly seen as a hairy men or hideous female spirits who waylay and mislead travelers by night on the mountain roads. Mountain fairies like to sit on rocks on either side of a mountain path and silently watch people as they pass by.
• Helpful Hob - These little people help in the kitchen and love to eat bread and buns.
• Hobgoblins - Small, grotesque but friendly brownie-type creatures.
• Hobbit - Fictional little people created by author J.R.R. Tolkien. See the books The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
• Knockers (Buccas) - These creatures protect and look over the welfare of miners. They will even making knocking noises where rich ore can be located.

• Leprechauns - They have a fond appreciation of gold and will horde gold away from humans. If you capture a leprechaun, they are commanded to grant you one wish and share their wealth with you. They can be tricky and can use your wish against you, if you don't command the wish correctly.
• Mer-People - Also known as mermaids. They dwell in the water and are half human from the waist up and have a tail of a fish. They are mesmerizing singers who sometimes lure fishermen to their deaths (See the Lorelei of Germany that lured sailors to their deaths against the rocks of the Rhine River). Also called the Murdhuacha (Pronounced: muroo-cha) or Merrows.
• Naga - They can appear as a cobra. When in human form, the female Naga is a graceful and elegant dancer. They will lure a male human to them with their dancing and swiftly turn into a cobra and strike a lethal blow.
• Nang-faa & Phi-bird - They are tiny. Their skin is golden. They have jet black hair and are gorgeous womenfolk. Some of their body like arms and legs are made up of feathers.
• Nymphs - Two type of Nymphs. The Nereids, which are tall. The Limoniades which are small and live on flowers. Other Nymph breeds are the Dyrads, who live in forests. They are 2 to 3 feet in height. They are known to protect trees.
• Pixies - Pixies can shapeshift to look like hedgehogs. They are mischievous fairies who enjoy playing practical jokes on humans. They also love to steal horses to ride.
• Phouka - Can appear in various animal forms and are considered to be dangerous.
• Primrose - Primrose fairy will touch certain rocks with a primrose and open gateways to fairylands.
• Queen Brighid the Bright - She is from Tir Tairngiri - The Land of Promise. She carries a wand, one half of the wand will dealt out authority, while the other half will dealt out purity and justice.

• Redcap - One of the most evil of the old Border Goblins. He lives in old ruined towers and castles, particularly those with a history of wickedness. He re-dyes his cap in human blood. Redcaps have been known and seen around the Tower of London.
• Shefro - Male fairies who wear green coats and red caps.
• Sďż˝dhee (shee) - The name for fairies and their subterranean dwellings. A barrow or hill which has a door to a beautiful underground realm of the Tuatha or fairies. J.R.R. Tolkien used this concept with the Hobbit.
• Sluagh - The Host of the Unforgiving Dead. The most formidable of the Highland fairies.
• Spriggans - Are fabled to be ugly, grotesque and small in their natural state, but can inflate themselves to gigantic proportions. Spriggans are an infamous band of villains, skilled thieves, thoroughly destructive and often dangerous. They are capable of robbing the dwellings of humans, kidnapping human children and exchanging the human child with a repulsive baby Spriggan.
• Tempestaries - They are gigantic to human size. They live in cloud castles and are known to eat Souffles & vol-au-vents.
• The Willies & the Dancers of the Mist - They are the size of a 'sheaf of mist'. They are vaporous creatures and are known to eat mist. They can shapeshift to a doe or a swan.
• Trolls - Have an aversion to daylight. They are frequently observed performing a curious lop-sided dance called 'Henking'.
• Trows - Similar to the Trolls and have an aversion to daylight. They also perform the dance known as the 'Henking'. Trolls and Trows are perhaps cousins. Trolls have a flatter head, while Trows have a more angler head.
• Urisk - Is a solitary fairy who haunts lonely pools. He will often seek out human company, but his frightful appearance will scare off humans that come into contact with his kind.
• Water Fairies - Are the providers of food, nourishers of crops and takers of lives. They combine beauty with treachery and lethality. They can be friend or foe.
• Wart Wogs - Grotesque elves that stand at 4 feet in height. They are known to have warts all over their bodies. When they touch a human, they will pass on the wart infliction to their human victim.
• Wind Banshee - A beautiful female elf that is invisible to the naked eye and will travel with the wind. When she stops and manifests in front of a human she will talk in a soft voice and tell the human about an impending disaster or tragedy that will occur in their life. She will then fade with the wind and vanish.
• Yellow Blurker - Filled with negativity, known to enter your dreams and nightmares.

At some point of time, I plan to travel to Iceland, an island that is filled with little people that live beneath the stones. In Iceland there are elves, lovelings, gnomes, trolls, huldufolk and light fairies. Icelanders take little people very seriously and when they think they are invading the space of little people, they will reroute a shopping mall to keep the little people happy.

If you ever go hunting for little people, use my list to identify what kind of little people you are dealing with. Do Fairies Exist??

Many people are willing and even longing to believe in the existence of fairies. The Little People are so bound up with happy memories of childhood that they are recalled with delight as part of a less materialistic world. But, to most of us, they stand as a lost illusion. Not so with everyone, fortunately. For I, amongst others, have seen all kinds of fairies for as long as I can remember, and I still see them daily. By seeing I mean that they are as much outside me as trees, and are seen just as objectively.

In the following pages, I propose to make these delightful beings as much a reality for you as I can. It is best that I try at the outset to make it clear why I have some special advantages for this enterprise. For one thing, having been born in the East, I have never been discouraged in my observations of fairies, because there are many people there who do see -- and very many more who believe in -- fairies. For this and other reasons, the not uncommon power among children to see them has in me persisted.

Then, I have had the good fortune to fall, in this life, among family and friends who included several who could also see; and travel has enlarged the list. Therefore, what I have here set down is not the imagination of an isolated child. It is information gathered from many contacts and conversations with fairies all over the world in circumstances perfectly natural, however unusual. One can communicate with these beings in just as definite a manner as we human beings talk to one another -- more so, for though the method (which I shall describe shortly) is slightly different, it is more rapid than speech, and, in some ways at least, it is a more accurate exchange.

It is important to mention these things, for once we see the world from the fairy point of view, we get a glimpse of a new universe. So many things that matter very much to us do not seem to matter at all to them. Life and death, for instance, are things that they know all about; to them there is no uncertainty and no tragedy involved. Human beings so often shrink from life and fear death. Fairies actually see the flow of life through all things. We live in a world of form without understanding the life force beneath the forms. To us the loss of the form means the end of the life, but fairies are never deceived in this way. They have a penetrating and powerful lesson for us.

Why do most people not see fairies?

Why do most people not see fairies? They live in the same world as we do, but their bodies are less dense than ours, though only slightly less dense than a tenuous gas. I feel sure that the veil between them and us is exceedingly thin -- so thin that nearly anyone could penetrate it with a little effort along the right line. The difficulty is to indicate this line and especially to get others to comprehend it. Most certainly, one strong reason for our not seeing them is due to a difference in point of view. If, therefore, what I write here can help to change points of view toward the fairy world, it will help to make more and more people able to see them.

That, of course, is not all. A special sense must be awakened in people if they are to see fairies. The kind of world fairies live in does not affect our ordinary senses directly. They cannot be touched or felt, yet they can certainly be seen. In fact, ordinary sight is a help in seeing them, but that sense by itself is a little too coarse to catch the light they give off. However, everyone has latent in them a sense finer than sight, and a number of people -- a surprisingly large number -- have activated it. It is this higher sense perception which is employed in watching the antics of the fairy world. After all, everyone has a wide range of sensory equipment. Touch reveals solids, taste tells us about liquids, and the sense of smell reports on gases. Sight is still more subtle, and the series does not end there. There is a force of special seeing called clairvoyance -- clear seeing.

The fact is that there is a real physical basis for clairvoyance, and the faculty is not especially mysterious. The power centers in that tiny organ in the brain called the pituitary gland. The kind of vibrations involved are so subtle that no physical opening in the skin is needed to convey them to the pituitary body, but there is a special spot of sensitiveness just between the eyes above the root of the nose which acts as the external opening for the gland within. It feels as if one were looking from that spot on the forehead, just as it feels in ordinary sight as if one were looking with one's eyes, although we all know we are only looking through them. Perception through that sensitive spot differs from perception through the conventional sense organs in one way: within there is no nervous structure of the ordinary physical sort. But the perception works just as I have said, nevertheless. When it is necessary to look into that finer world in which the fairies and similar kinds of living beings exist, it is only necessary to concentrate for a moment along that line of sight, and the sense responds much as if the eyes (but in this case a single eye) has opened.

I am told (for I do not pretend to be very well informed about biology) that there was once, in primitive animals ancestral to humans, a connection for the pituitary body to the skin and an outer opening for it. The present pituitary body is supposed to be an atrophied remnant from those days. But doctors know that the gland is far from being a useless remnant, for it secretes from both parts of itself some of those bodies which are an invisible part of the blood stream and have such a powerful influence on growth and other functions. So the pituitary gland is certainly very much alive and important in human beings. And it certainly has this use for receiving very fine vibrations from a world of things which are subtler than anything we know.

I wish I could make it still clearer, but perhaps that is the best one can do. Maybe in a way it is just as well that this sense is not so readily at hand that people could force it to work. For any such violent effort to move nature ahead of her own time is in many cases fraught with danger. People sometimes try to press themselves forward into a clairvoyant state by using their will, taking drugs, or engaging in other practices. However, if its development is unnatural, clairvoyance is not usually safe. But this does not make it less real than in cases where the power occurs in a perfectly normal way.

Can adults still learn to see fairies?

The question will be asked why more people cannot see fairies. I suppose part of the answer is that almost nobody tries after they are grown UP, or even in childhood for that matter, and the rest of the answer is that the few who know that fairies exist do not always try to see them in the right way.

As far as I am concerned I can see fairies. I can see them with my eyes shut, but I do not close my eyes ordinarily, as it is for one thing unnecessary, and for another, when clairvoyant sight has brought fairies into range, ordinary sight helps very much to observe details. And many fairies are so nearly perceptible by ordinary sight that it is much easier to study them with that. Just what sort of light they give off or reflect (for they are themselves luminous) I do not know, for I am not a physicist, and even if I were, where are the instruments with which to study anything so subtle?

A scientific friend suggested looking at fairies with and without some borrowed spectacles, by way of making some sort of test about the kind of light that is involved. I did so and found that the fairies looked different through the spectacles, just as trees look different. But perhaps the distortion is due to the effect upon one's ordinary sight. Again, fairies seem not so visible through ordinary window glass, but the same difficulty arises here as before: is it the dimming of light to ordinary eyes that is affected?

I was only one of many children who have known of fairies from the very earliest years, but in my case -- owing to my good fortune and perhaps special advantages -- this knowledge has not only persisted but widened. The reader may know of cases like this; I also have met many children who see and many more adults who still remember the days when they had this power. But not many have the courage to own up to their faculties, for often they are afraid of being thought peculiar. The very way so many parents treat children puts them on the defensive in the matter. Being spanked for "telling lies" is no encouragement to pursue the subject further. It makes the child ashamed of a lovely experience.

Furthermore, we must remember that the whole business of seeing fairies is a delicate operation at best. The power to see requires conditions of quiet and peace; and then, fairies are themselves quite as shy as wild creatures and have to be tamed and attracted. Altogether, even under the best circumstances, especially around cities, the undertaking is not easy for the inexperienced. Add to this the ignorant hostility of the majority and, what is more, a fixed belief that only the dense material is real, and one can begin to appreciate the problem faced by the seeing child. Fortunately, more and more parents are becoming aware of nurturing creative abilities and higher sense perceptions in their children.

In childhood, the relationship between the two kingdoms is closer than at any other time of life. This is because children are closer by nature to fairies than any other human beings. They are naturally happy and spontaneous in action; they fit well into nature; they are also somewhat irresponsible, with few worries about food and clothing; and they have a remarkable capacity for finding delight, fascination, and creative joy in little things like a pebble or a shell or an empty box. They also take an intense interest in young and growing things, are boundlessly curious about everything within range, have no consciousness of conventional traditions of behavior or moralities, and love adventure, dressing up, and tales of mystery and imagination. In all these ways children are close to the fairies in character. This is why in childhood the gates are so often open, and the human and fairy worlds are so completely one.

Even though fairies have been supplanted in children's imaginations by more modern fancies, like creatures from outer space, they remain a deep, instinctive need of humanity. This yearning for their friendship and for the mere knowledge that they exist has its root in the fact that the fairies are there, silent and unseen to most people, yet close at hand -- as it were, with elfin hands on the thin shell between the two worlds. The clear bell notes of their music can almost be heard. The gaiety and beauty which they embody presses in upon us from every bit of parkland, of wood, of garden. The sky and sea are joyous thresholds into their worlds. On every side there are fairies, and therefore on every side loveliness and happiness.

If adults could but recapture the simplicity and directness of children even in some small degree, they too would recover the lost land of happiness that is the kingdom of the Little People, for the fairies would delight in becoming their simple friends, always to be depended upon, always kind.
